waiting on wednesday (on thursday) - this is where it ends

Well, hi! I know this is a day late but we're rolling with it. Because we're rebels. And since I'm late for almost everything else in my life, I thought this would be fine. You forgive me, right?

Can we just talk about my new WoW header for a second? How cute is it? I have another one for Top Ten Tuesday that you'll get to see next week. Spoiler alert: it's also adorable.

Anyway. I'm doing another Waiting on Wednesday (thanks to Breaking the Spine for hosting this every week!). This week's pick is....

This Is Where It Ends by Marieke Nijkamp
Publication date: January 5, 2016
Publisher: Sourcebooks Fire

From Goodreads:

10:00 a.m.
The principal of Opportunity, Alabama's high school finishes her speech, welcoming the entire student body to a new semester and encouraging them to excel and achieve.
10:02 a.m.
The students get up to leave the auditorium for their next class.
10:03
The auditorium doors won't open.
10:05
Someone starts shooting.
Told over the span of 54 harrowing minutes from four different perspectives, terror reigns as one student's calculated revenge turns into the ultimate game of survival.

Why I'm Waiting:
...*shudder*.
Look. This is not going to be a fun book to read. This is not going to be a nice, happy, all's-well-that-ends-well kind of story. I am most likely going to cry and hate the world and say "WHY?" about 500 times. But I think it's necessary, in a strange way. Especially in light of recent events, I think this is an important discussion to have, and an important topic to talk about. I hope, with everything I have, that the author tackles this meaningfully and respectfully.

What upcoming releases are you looking forward to?

  1. Hey I recently tagged you for a Book Fangirling Award! It's on my blog at the current moment, and I wanted to let you know!

  2. I'm really impressed by your pick. Yes, you're right, this book isn't going to be "fun" and nevertheless should be read. These topics are easily ignored in the world of YA-book bloggers. (Nothing wrong with YA, I'm just saying there is more than one topic :))
Great pick! (... I hope this post isn't going to occur about 11000000 times, because my Wifi-Connection sucks.)
(Don't worry. I'm late with everything, too :D)

    1. Thank you so much! I think it's so important to read the "tough" books because they teach us so much. It's awesome to read the fun books, but I'm a huge advocate of also reading the ones that are more thought-provoking and tackle the difficult subjects because ultimately, that's what will make us grow and learn.
